Lydford Gorge

The National Trust's Lydford Gorge, Devon, is the deepest gorge in the South West and has a spectacular 30m waterfall.
Nestled on the edge of Dartmoor, the impressive landscape of Lydford Gorge offers an opportunity to immerse yourself in the wonders of nature. Winding walking trails take you through temperate rainforest with cascading waterfalls and fascinating rock formations carved out by the River Lyd.

Family Friendly-a walk at Lydford Gorge takes you into a temperate rainforest, past cascading waterfalls and fascinating rock formations. On the way try some of the favourite ’50 things to do before you’re 11¾’ activities and get back to nature.
Dog Friendly-dogs are very welcome at Lydford Gorge. However, if they do not enjoy being on the lead then this may not be the best place for a walk. Please keep dogs on a short lead at all times and out of the river.
The seven narrow unguarded steps leading to the metal grill of the Devil’s Cauldron viewing platform mean that we recommend you don’t take your dog down here, but this small section can be easily avoided.
